Is it ok if I can’t dance?

No matter your movement ability you can always do DMT! Rather than ability, willingness to participate is more important in DMT.

Why would I do DMT instead of normal talk therapy? It doesn’t have to be an either or! Many people do DMT while also seeing a talk therapist. DMT emphasizes the body-mind connection and encourages participants to connect to their body in ways usual therapy may not.

How is DMT different from just taking a dance class? The purpose of a dance class is to attain a skill, improve your ability in a particular movement style, or get some exercise. DMT has the purpose of addressing and processing emotional or behavioral health. As a result the process can be quite different. But usually in DMT you are lead into movement instead of told what movements to do.

Who can benefit from DMT? People of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can benefit from DMT. It can especially be helpful for stress reduction, emotion regulation, and cultivating awareness.

What can DMT help me with? There are many applications of DMT. It has been used to help treat depression, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, dementia, psychotic disorders, addictions, developmental disorders, etc. It is also used as a method of further self discovery.

What can I expect from a DMT session? Every DMT session and therapist is different and a session can change depending on the participants. But come in comfortable clothing and ready to move!
